@ Cubbon Park!

Cubbon Park people!!!

I should have listened to Shalini earlier :)
Cubbon park, of all the years of being in Bangalore, was a place I had seen about 18 years back and lo! behold!! had the opportunity to see it again..

Like all pakka-Bangaloreans, the words Cubbon park, Laal Bagh would mean boooo! must be because we've all been there as kids and it just was not sounding interesting now!
Yesterday; I did think that I should take my son out - usually it would have been to a park nearby or a mall or Ameaba games' zone...
but I thought why not the Toy Train @ Cubbon Park!!
within 15 minutes we got dressed and raced towards Cubbon Park.
you won't believe, I even had forgotten the route and where exactly was the entrance to kids' baal bhavan there :)
however, once we reached there, it was complete nostalgia for me! I remmebered all the good times me and my cousins used to have there....made my 2 year old son sit in the train for the first time :) he was a little scared but then, who isn't for a first time!
It was not even that crowded, and we had a good time going around the park in the train.
when i saw a few tourists enjoying it is when i realised that the Toy Train at Cubbon Park is still one of the tourist attractions that people who visit Bangalore are told to go and experience! Phooyi!
anyways, then were the series of gymnastic bars, swings and swings - they have to actually do some circus to actually get to the slide thingi :)
my son had such a good time!
Its not only that...its the full-space around to run around and up and down just everywhere...
I know that its there in any big park around...but there's some magic in Cubbon Park - I think its because our memories are also mixed in it! and it feels different!
then the cute boating ride...its around a small pond which is so funny that its so small - he takes us 2 rounds though!
was this what we used to jump up and down for in our childhood days? I was wondering how when i saw the reason in front of my eyes! My son was so ecstatic about the ride! no wonder i thought, he will also remember this forever...
hmm...the day ended well...the usual corn wala was nearby - may be he was the son of the guy who used to sell it when we were kids :)
then the gas baloon :) oh! man! I was feeling all old, nostalgic and lonely :)
Everything was nice there... the breeze, the weather, the people (no crowd), the place, the environment! the atmosphere :)
I bought exactly all that me and my cousins would have bought in those days now for my son...he had such a big smile on his face throughout....
Best part is that together, i spent not more than 100 bucks! its still the same costs there, Train @ 10Rs, Boating @ 10Rs, entrance 5 rs etc! comparing with those sleezy rides in the Malls etc - isn't this the best times!

My learnings of the day: listen to friends (My friend shaali used to always say take him to Cubbon Park but i acted all hep and thought it was not cool or very boring there), remember childhood and the reasons for the fun we had then...

It was a fun day, lot of good times; then and now
for those who have'nt visited or taken your kids to the Cubbon Park! do it people!
its worth it!!

Love Sangs
